What you will do

• Establish a strong security presence
• Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and patrons
• Patrol the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner
• Perform safety and security duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
• Complete incident reports for security purposes
• Respond to emergencies and escalate to law enforcement agencies as required
• Ensuring the safe and secure control and custody of high risk detained individuals
• Complying with and applying all policies and POSOPs, and ensuring all individuals follow site-specific rules
• Monitoring and controlling designated areas inside and outside the resources assigned work location, including all entrances and exits, as required
• Carrying out evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or emergency at their assigned work location in accordance with building emergency procedures
• Carrying out daily and unscheduled searches of premises and reporting irregularities as per the POSOPs
• Using approved search methods, as per the POSOPs
• Admitting individuals and conducting intake (logging and itemization of personal effects) and decontamination of individuals belongings
• Communicating using radios
• Completing reports and forms as required
• Applying use of force principles and methods of intervention respective of the situation when handling individuals as per training and as identified in the POSOPs
• Monitoring individuals behaviour through active engagement and using verbal deescalation techniques, as required
• Administering First-Aid and CPR to individuals as required, including the use of provided AEDs

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid BC Security License is required
• Valid First Aid Level 1 (OFA1) is an asset
• Advanced Security Training (AST) is an asset
• Must have resided in Canada for the past 5 years
• High school diploma or equivalent (proof of education is required)
• Able to pass Public Works Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check
• At least 1 year of experience in a security role
• Demonstrated ability to act decisively in high-pressure situations
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills
• Ability to work without close supervision
• Willing to stand and patrol for the duration of the shift
