Temporary, Full Time | Term, Up To 18 Months Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surreys new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing with innovative new approaches and community-based solutions. POSITION OVERVIEW While Surrey Police Service (SPS) has assumed overarching responsibility for policing in the City of Surrey, the RCMP will continue to provide policing services in Surrey through the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit until the transition has been completed. SPS is currently hiring a Temporary, Full Time (Term) Member Services Clerk to work as a designated resource to the RCMP in Surrey. While the successful candidate will be employed by SPS, they will be dedicated to support the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit. Currently, support in this role is anticipated for up to 18 months (approximately), however the term may be shortened or extended based on operational needs to support the RCMP. A Member Services Clerk performs highly complex clerical work and related administrative support functions of considerable responsibility under limited supervision and exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gathers, inputs, and maintains data in relevant department information systems.
  • Develops and produces a variety of reports and provides summaries.
  • Conducts reviews of data to monitor accuracy and completeness of information and adherence to standards.
  • Provides technical direction and training to users as required and identifies and assesses user problems.
  • Provides advice and assistance regarding system functions and applications.
  • Maintains liaison with systems administration and technical support to identify operational problems.
  • Assigns, updates, and maintains system user access.
  • Distributes relevant information and work kits to staff.
  • Takes service and identification photographs and produces identification cards for staff.
  • Responds to various requests and inquiries and resolves issues received from internal and external clients.
  • Ensures staff is advised of new system capabilities as required.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of materials, records, reports, and correspondence related to the work.
  • Assists other staff in performing duties.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of applicable software programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable information systems.
  • Knowledge of operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of filing, indexing methods and record keeping.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide training and assistance regarding system functionality.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in performing the duties of the position.
  • Ability to perform and succeed under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in providing accurate and factual information.
  • Ability to prepare reports and summaries.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a group setting as a part of a team.
  • Security clearance as required.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by business and/or computer courses at a post secondary level.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible and diversified experience in an office environment.

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires both SPS Security Clearance and RCMP Reliability Status. All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $31.97/hour -$34.75/hour (pay grade 015) based on 2024 Rates.
