The Hansard Branch of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly is responsible for the verbatim record of the debates while the Legislative Assembly is in session. The Branch consists of skilled, dedicated employees working to produce a high-quality document as a part of Manitobas history. This is Casual employment with work periods typically occurring from March to June and October to December of each year. Casual shifts are offered based on the needs of the department as well as the availability of staff members.

Conditions of Employment:

• The incumbent must be, and remain, politically non-partisan in both perception and fact.

Qualifications: Essential:

• Graduate of technical school or an equivalent program or relevant background. A combination of related industry certifications, and experience may be considered
• Relevant background experience with audio engineering, networked audio, information technology systems, and digital audio/video equipment and operations
• Experience setting up audio for reinforcement, broadcast, and recording including the ability to troubleshoot audio signal flow
• Project management skills, effectively managing multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• AVIXA-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate and/or CTS Certification
• Certifications/experience with Dante networks, Q-SYS systems and Q-SYS Designer
• An understanding of parliamentary procedures

Duties: Under the supervision and technical direction of the Senior Audio Technicians, the Audio Technicians are responsible for producing high quality digital audio recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement of all sittings of the Legislative Assembly, Standing and Special Committees within the Legislature, travelling committees and some non-legislative events through the operation and maintenance of the proprietary computer and networked audio systems.
