Requirements

• Candidates must be able to speak and comprehend English fluently
• Must be bondable.
• Must have a Food Handling Certificate
• A City of Winnipeg Police Service current police record and vulnerable sector check is required prior to hire date.
• Emergency First Aid is also mandatory within six months of employment
• Candidates must be able to and continue to be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Complete ability to communicate with co-workers and residents in a professional manner.
• A minimum of 3 years food handling/preparation experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menus.
• Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
• Assist in the planning and execution of daily menu items, including specials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
• Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist in ordering as needed.
• Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
• Follow proper procedures for food handling, storage, and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the food service or restaurant industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
• Strong skills in meal preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment operation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that delight guests.
